Statement

砂原光利の描くもの
ここではないどこかにある街
私はこれまで全てのアプローチにおいて「詩的なモノ」を大切なものとして捉えてきました。詩の中だけではなく、絵画にも彫刻にも生活にもビジネスにも、あらゆる所に「詩的なモノ」は存在していて、表現を遠くまで届く豊かなものにしてくれていると考えています。

自分の作品を制作する上でも「詩的なモノ」の存在を重要視しています。「詩的なモノ」を構成する要素はいくつもありますが、その中でも特に大切な要素は「ここではないどこか」を望む心だと私は考えています。作品の中で描かれる街は「ここではないどこか」にある街であり、こちら側ではない向こう側にある風景です。そこにはけして辿り着けないのかもしれませんが、私たちはそれを遠くから望むことができます。そして、遠くから見える街からはぼんやりとした「ひかり」が立ち昇っているような気がしています。

「ひかり」とは私たちの未来に向けた夢や希望です。これらの夢や希望は、風景としての街や岩山や大樹や波の中に埋め込まれ、見えないくらいぼんやりと淡く輝いています。未来への夢や希望は叶うことが約束された訳ではありません。それでも風景の中に「ひかり」は在り続け、道は道として続き、街は街として在り続けています。そのような風景としての都市を描くことを通じ、手の届かない「向こう側」にある存在や淡く輝く夢や希望、取り返しのつかない何かを表したいと考えています。

The city somewhere not here

In all my approaches, I have considered "poetic things" to be important. I believe that "poetic things" exist everywhere, not only in poetry, but also in paintings, sculptures, life, and business. And they make my expressions rich and far-reaching.

I place great importance on the existence of "poetic things" when creating my own works. There are many elements that make up a “poetic things,” but I believe that the most important element among them is the desire to connect with “somewhere not here.” The cities depicted in the works are the cities "somewhere not here", the landscapes that are not on this side but on the other side. We may never get there, but we can see them from afar. And I feel like a hazy "light" is rising from the city that can be seen from afar.

“Light” is our dream and hope for the future. These dreams and hopes are embedded in the cities, rocky mountains, trees and waves as the landscapes. And it shines so dimly that you can't see it. Dreams and hopes for the future are not guaranteed to come true. Even so, "light" continues to exist in the landscapes, roads continue as roads, and cities continue to exist as cities. By painting the cities as the landscapes, I want to express the existence on the "other side" that is out of reach, the faintly shining dreams and hopes, and something irretrievable.

  • 過去から繋がれた今は未来へと続く。
    繋がれた未来は光に満ちている。

    未来への夢や希望は風景の中に埋め込まれ、
    ぼんやりとした「光」として立ち昇る。

    未来での夢や希望は
    叶うことが約束された訳ではないが、
    それでも
    人々の道は続き、
    街は街として在り続ける。

    繋がれた未来は「光」に満ちている。
    気付けないくらいのか弱い光が
    街や海や空や山を包んでいる。
    私から見える風景を包んでいる。
    辿り着けない世界を包んでいる。

    手に届かなくてもいい。
    在り続ければいい。

    街は「光」に満ちている。
    か弱い光に満ち溢れている。
    道は続く。
    そして、在り続ける。

    その、取り返しのつかない光は。


    The present that is connected from the past is connected to the future.

    Dreams and hopes for the future are embedded in the landscape and rise as hazy "lights".

    The road continues.
    And continue to exist.

2023年7月25日（火）〜7月30日（日）の期間、浅草にあります「東京浅草画廊Gei藝」にて、砂原光利の個展「​​​ひかりのまち」を開催します。

2022年10月には初めてのグループ展「Project HORIZON」を成功させ、これまでの作品と詩作をまとめた詩画集「としのぬけがら」を出版しました。今回はアクリルガッシュによる色彩豊かな作品を中心に、全て新作を発表します。

浅草にお越しの際にはぜひお立ち寄りいただき、ご高覧いただければと思います。

[Notice of exhibition]

Poet and artist Mitsutoshi Sunahara's solo exhibition "Hikari no machi / The City of Light" will be held from July 25th (Tue.) to July 30th (Sun.), 2023 at "Tokyo Asakusa Gallery Gei" in Asakusa.

Mitsutoshi Sunahara, through his attempt to explore the "poetic", draws not only his poetry, but also the approach of detailed paintings with a pen and colorful expressions with acrylic gouache, depicting the appearance of a densely packed city.  In October 2022, he successfully held his first group exhibition, "Project HORIZON", and published a collection of his works and poems, "Toshino Nukegara / Cast-off shell of City/Town".  In this exhibition, he will present all new works, focusing on colorful acrylic gouache works.

This exhibition's theme is "Hikari no machi / The City of Light".  “Hikari / Light” is our dream and hope for the future.  These dreams and hopes are embedded in the landscape of the city, rocky mountains, large trees, and waves, shining dimly and faintly so that we cannot be seen.  Dreams and hopes for the future are not guaranteed to come true.  Even so, "light" continues to exist in the landscape, roads continue as roads, and cities continue to exist as cities.  By depicting cities as such landscapes, Sunahara hopes to express existences on the "other side" that are out of reach, faintly shining dreams and hopes, and something irreversible.

自己紹介
砂原 光利　SUNAHARA Mitsutoshi
Artist / Poet
1976年北海道旭川市生まれ。小学生の頃から詩作を始め、宮沢賢治、八木重吉などに影響を受ける。早稲田大学教育学部理学科生物学専修卒業。大阪・インターメディウム研究所IMI「大学院」講座修了。「今福龍太×伊藤俊治トークセッション『島を渡る』」主催。
2022年に適応障害、双極性障害、強迫性障害により勤務先を退職、同時にアーティストとしての活動を始める。制作においては、詩的なアプローチを様々な媒体に適用することを常に試みている。その一環として、風景としての密集した都市を描く絵画シリーズを制作し、手の届かない向こう側にある都市、その中にぼんやりと立ち昇る希望のようなものをアクリルガッシュなどで描いている。

Born 1976 in Asahikawa, Hokkaido. He started writing poetry when he was in elementary school.  He graduated from Waseda University, Faculty of Education, Department of Science, Major of Biology.  He completed the IMI "Graduate School" course at the Intermedium Institute, Osaka.  He was the host of the "Ryuta Imafuku x Toshiharu Ito Talk Session 'Shima wo Wataru'".  In 2022, he retired from his job due to adjustment disorder, bipolar disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, and began to express himself through pen drawings.  The exhibitions will be held in 2022, "Project HORIZON ~Three person Pen Drawing Exhibition~" (Sasuke Cafe, Kamakura), "10th Dynamic Contemporary Artists Exhibition" (National Art Center, 410Gallery Award), "1st Kama Exhibition ” (Kamakura / Sasuke Cafe) and so on.  Among his writings is a collection of works and poems "Toshino Nukegara / Cast-off shell of City/Town".

初個展「ひかりのまち」が
閉幕いたしました

【個展　閉幕のご報告&御礼】
2023年7月25日（火）〜30日（日）の日程で、東京浅草画廊Gei藝にて開催いたしました砂原光利の初個展「ひかりのまち」が無事に閉幕いたしました。

期間中大変暑い天候の中、お越しいただいた皆さま、誠にありがとうございました。作品をご自宅にお迎えいただいた皆さまも、重ねてになりますがありがとうございます。また、展覧会が行われていることをずっと気にしていただいた皆さま、フライヤーを置いていただいたり告知を手伝っていただいた皆さま、本当にありがとうございます。この場をお借りして御礼を伝えさせていただきます。

今回は人生で初めての個展でした。アーティストとして活動をスタートした2022年6月からの中でも最も大きなイベントだったと思います。

ご来場いただいた皆さまの感想などから、皆さまが私の作品から、私が伝えたいことだけではなく、ぼんやりと漂う優しさや、これからの可能性や、前に向かって進んでいく力強さや、言葉から生まれる感覚の面白さなど、様々なことを摘み取っていただけていたのだなと感じています。

また、自分のスタンスとして、アーティストであることを強く意識する場となりました。これからも詩人であり、アーティストである者として、制作を続けていきたいと思います。

個展は終わりましたが、展示作品の一部は東京浅草画廊Gei藝にて引き続き展示・販売を行います。展示作品以外についても、ギャラリーを通して購入いただくことが可能になっております。ご興味のある方はぜひご連絡ください。

今後も様々な活動をしていきたいと思います。また様々な場所でお会いできることを楽しみにしています。誠にありがとうございました。

国立新美術館で開催された国際公募展「第10回躍動する現代作家展」にペン画で都市を描いた作品を2点出展、410Gallery賞を受賞いたしました。

2022年10月に「Project HORIZON〜3人ペン画展〜」を開催した鎌倉・佐助カフェにて、今度はカフェの壁面部分のみを使わせていただいた大きな作品を特別展示いたしました。
テーマは「On The Other Side」。アポロ8号が初めて月の裏側を飛行する際の、地上との最後の交信が「We'll see you on the other side.」だったそうです。手の届かないあちら側にあるもの、向こう側に見える光を表現できればと思います。

砂原光利、初めての個展を開催し、すべて新作を約45点展示いたしました。これまでのペン画での表現を更に進化させ、色彩豊かなアクリルガッシュなどを用いた表現で、より深まった詩的世界を展開しました。

詩についてもう一度捉えなおす機会になるように。そして今までに体験したことのない側面から詩を感じられるように企画した、新しいポエトリーリーディングイベントです。音響ノイズ、ベース、ポエトリーリーディングが「multi-exposure＝多重露光」することで、新しい音や言葉のイメージを浮かび上がらせます。
